In airsoft, the need for BBs to fly straight and far has always been something chased by many and the common solution has always been “just adjust your hop up”. But! How much do you really know about that little piece of rubber called the hop up?
Hop ups use a bucking to put back spin on your BB which causes something called the Magnus Effect. This effect essentially uses back spin and reduced air pressure on the projectile’s top side which in turn generates lift to your BB as it flies out of the barrel.
What is happening in your airsoft gun as you pull the trigger and your BB starts its flight path, a projection called the Hop Up Bucking momentarily hinders the top side of the BB implementing a backspin that can exceed 120,000 revolutions per minute!! This can then be adjusted to how much spin you need to suit your specific situation.
Different companies have their different takes on this technology and what we find is that range is highly sought after. The A+ hop up rubbers offer optimum range even for a pistol and is one of the best kept secrets of players in Asia who have been installing these hop-ups in their airsoft guns for the two years. Most players and shops internationally don’t know much about the A+ simply because nobody in the US or Europe has really talked about this amazing piece of rubber.
If you’re looking for something that will help your pistol push your BBs out to 60+ meters or close to 200ft, then look into A+ hop-up rubbers. Still a best kept secret of Asian hardcore players...until now.
