Product Review: Cybergun FNS-9

April 3, 2017

The FNS 9 is a striker fired pistol made by FNH USA and was designed based on the FN FNX.  The pistol being relatively new started production back in 2011 and has been adopted by some police departments in the United States.

The airsoft version you will see today is the latest GBB pistol to hit the market and its got some heavy competition in front of it.  Can this new kid on the block hold its own?

Today we delve into the newest airsoft pistol you can find on the market right now.  lets get right into the pistol because I am sure there are few details you would be interested to know.

In the looks department, its pretty generic.  Its black and blocky like most other pistols you see.  For a gun modeled after the FNX, it must be the smaller frame that causes it to just not look as good as its bigger brother.  The pistol features a bottom piccitiny rail for your lights and lasers and quite a large trigger guard so you can use think gloves and still operate the gun find.

The side itself is aluminum and has some cocking secretions up front and on the back.  The they are more “grooves” rather than secretions and sadly they don't catch on to my hand very.  The texturing on the grip though is great, not too aggressive and gives you fairly good grip and the back straps are interchangeable.  The best part about the lower frame is this beaver tail.  Its not too long but just gives you enough for a higher purchase on the gun.

The sights are easy to read and are 3 dot.  The controls are all ambidextrous meaning the slide release and magazine release can be found on both sides.  The gun also features the ever popular trigger safety.

You can access the hop up by removing the slide.  First throw down the take down lever, slide the slide forward and you can adjust the hop up.  Finally, this is a fully licensed gun from FN Herstal so you will except to find all the correct markings in all the right places, even the caliber size.

Now for a gun that looks rather average on paper, whats going to make this pistol stand out?  I can tell you two things:

The gun is fantastically compact and can fit in a nice kydex holster with no problems.  If you are running body armor or a plate carrier, this gun is definitely not going to snag.   The recoil and cycling speed of this gun is also extremely on point.

For a new pistol on the market its got some stiff competition from all sides.   Does its strong recoil and snappy cycling as well as compact size make it a gun that can contend with some of the other offerings out there?  I think yes and no.

The area that this gun will shine the most is just being unique and something different and while its a unique quality, it can also be its hindrance because finding a holster for it that is not a custom kydex might prove a little difficult.

What do you guys think?  Do you think this gun has the legs under it to stand tall amongst the competition?  Let me know in the comment section below!
