The Krytac LMG-Enhanced is exactly what the name says it is. It is their take on how to evolve the existing LMG platform to make it more versatile. While the gun has been out for a while we are pleased to give it the Redwolf Airsoft review treatment.
Jumping right into the gun! First thing you will notice is that compared to other LMGs like the M249 or M60 the LMG-E is a more compact package and feels much lighter than those as well. Up front you have the signature Krytac flash hider and a mil-spec keymod rail. The outer barrel is 228.9mm with an inner barrel at 280mm which transfers to improved accuracy downrange, especially when taking slow precision shots.
The beauty of the gun really comes in the middle portion. The lower receiver is a standard M4 receiver and takes regular M4 mags in addition to its box mag. The box mag takes a 9v battery and is electric winding. The capacity is 3500 rounds so you will have plenty of ammo for a TON of shooting. You also get a flat faced trigger which is slightly hooked but its trigger guard is a little on the small side.
Being an “Enhanced” LMG, the fire controls are very unique for a machine gun. The gun can shoot in both full auto and semi. Referring to a previous comment, this is what will allow you to take longer range precision shots. The hop up can be accessed here by pulling back the charging handle. You can hear clicking sounds as you adjust the hop. The upper receiver is based on what you would find on a regular LMG which allows you to open it up and place dummy rounds in it if you so choose, you will also find a top rail for mounting your optics.
Finally we move to the rear of the gun. The pistol grip is nice, the finger groove desirability can be subjective to the user and it has no texturing so it could be slippery when moist. The stock is their Defiance stock which is large and gives a good cheek. You can access your small tamiya battery connector by removing the butt pad. For a stock that sports such a large design, one would wish for it to have more space to store a battery other than a stick type but for the moment the only battery recommend is exactly that, a stick type battery.
Feeling wise, the gun feels lighter than what you would imagine. The trigger pull is not necessarily what you would consider short stroked and does have a good amount of take up but the response is still very snappy due to this integrated FET system.
The LMG-E is Krytac's take on the natural evolution of the LMG platform. While able to provide optimal suppressive firepower the gun can allow the user to take their time and line up precision shots as well. Adding to its ability to shoot well, it is also much more flexible compared to other platforms which only take drum/box mags. While the idea of using a standard M4 magazine as your ammo source is nothing really too new, the M4 lower receiver allows for the shooter to manipulate the gun as he would any M4 rifle.
While there may be a few things left desirable such as you would wish they came with at least ONE keymod section for you to adapt accessories and the stock to provide more space for different battery types. The gun overall is a fantastic piece. Its very hard to find a good gun that can actually fulfill multiple roles and do well. The LMG-E is really the best of both worlds for the player that wants to be a support gunner as well as an assaulter.
